I was wondering what I should call this post as it will quite “longish.” So Christy suggested I call it “Longish.” Then she thought maybe "Catch-Up" sounded better. :-) Actually, it will probably end up being more than one post. Lots has happened in the past 10 days. Here is just a brief update of events.
February 14th.
Visit to the doctor.
The Lord gave a good day. There was no snow and not even much rain, so traveling wasn’t bad.
The visit to the doctor started out a little stressful, but the Lord worked out the initial problem, and the rest of the visit went smoothly. The Lord was with me through all of it. The doctor thinks there is a possibility I have MS and wants an MRI done right away. She wants to see me as soon as the results of the MRI come in.
The doctor helped me to apply to an organization for help for funding for the MRI. However, I was not able to get these papers back to her until this Monday. Not sure how long it takes to process the paperwork. Please be in prayer that things will go quickly and that the MRI will be scheduled soon. Please also pray that whatever is the problem will show up well in the MRI.
“17The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works. 18The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. 19He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them. 20The LORD preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy. 21My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD: and let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever.” (Psalm 145:17-21)
February 15th.
The Lord painted a beautiful sunset in the sky last night. It was all yellow and fiery in the west. The clouds floating across the sky were shades of yellow, gray, and blue gray, and looked like rippling waves of the sea.
It was fun to watch the birds go to bed. That is one of the most fascinating things one could ever watch, especially when too many birds choose one tree. How do they know which “couple” has to leave? They always seem to settle in the uppermost branches. I assume this is for protection from danger. There is one bird perched in the very top of each tree. Truly, God does care about birds. Does He not then care much more about us?
While these birds were going to bed and singing their “good night” song, another bird was singing its “wake-up” song, “Who, Who who who, Who!” :-)
Another cheery thing about the 15th was that Christy’s forsythia is just starting to bloom.
February 16th.
This day started out at 40 degrees and was quite foggy.
After a busy morning, we headed to Gastonia. There we went to Hobby Lobby, then Michael’s, then Ollie’s. Ollie’s is a really neat store. It is just a little far away to go often. Ollie’s is a discount store with all sorts of things – Bibles, books, household items, kitchen items, craft items, yard and garden items, and so forth. It reminds me a little of Big Lots but has a lot more variety.
At Hobby Lobby I got some cute green ribbon, with lady bugs on it, to use in a craft. Christy also got some things, including a puzzle with tea cups on it.
At Michaels we got enough door knobs to finish the cupboards in the kitchen. I plan to try to paint the knobs on the drawers. We also got some pretty yarn and some plain green yarn. It took a while, but we eventually found the ribbon that was on sale for 3 for $1.00, and I got 3 green ribbon to match the lady bug ones.
A really funny thing happened while we were in Michael’s. I bent down next to Christy to look at some yarn on one of the lower shelves. When I stood up, one of my bobby pins got hooked to Christy’s sweater sleeve. There I was, bent over, with an armload of yarn and other items, and my head pinned to Christy’s sweater sleeve. For a moment, neither of us could move. Finally I worked both arms up, without dropping anything, got the bobby pin between my fingers, and finally managed to get the bobby pin out of Christy’s sweater and my hair. It was so funny, I laughed so hard that tears ran out of my eyes.
Well, this sums up this post. Will write “Catch-Up, part 2” later. Have a happy day!
