Yesterday was a fun day. Christy and I were able to work out in the yard and in the garden for about an hour.
I picked some collards and kale and washed them up along with a carrot. Here are the vegetables soaking in a diluted hydrogen peroxide solution. The purple leaves are the kale. Guess it must be purple kale. Christy used the kale in the vegetable juice.
After the vegetables soaked for a little while, I took them out of the water and placed the kale in a colander. The water got shaken off the other vegetables, and then they were cut up and placed on stainless steel cookie sheets waiting to be dehydrated. I cut the carrot in the thinnest slices I could.
The oven was set on 275 and the veggies placed in the oven for about 30 to 45 minutes. After that I took them out for about 15 minutes and then put them back in for 15 minutes. This pattern was repeated until the vegetables were completely dry and crispy. Here are the veggies ready to go in the oven.
When the veggies had cooled, I ground them up and stored them in a jar. They can be used later for soup or for vegetables during the winter. Here they are after they are ground up. They certainly get a lot smaller when they are dehydrated.
