We’ve had a couple of crazy weeks, but also fun weeks and wonderful.
One of the highlights of this month was the Female’s Fall Frolic for Fun. During this time, ladies form the church get together and we go on a trip up to Hendersonville to an orchard to get apples. They are very delicious, fresh apples.
There were also lots of pumpkins, rows of pumpkins. There was a llama too, and some fun places to get our pictures taken. We used to be able to pet the llama, but they were told they would have to get a special permit in order to allow people to pet it; so they put up a fence between it and the people who came to see it. One can still buy food and feed the llama by letting the food slide down a special tray that goes to the inside of the fence where the llama is.
After that we went to A Day in the Country. That is a very fascinating store with all kinds of things to see, and to leave there. There is an “attic sale” section where there is merchandise more in our price range. We did not get any though. However, we did enjoy their coffee and apple cider samples. :-)
For lunch we all stopped at Chik-fil-A. We kept them busy with over 20 orders to make at once! :-) The food was very good – I had a grilled chicken salad.
Another fun thing we did was to enter things into the fair. I had eight entries and Christy had four. For these we each got a ticket to get into the fair free one day. We’ll probably go next Saturday so that we can get the most out of our ticket. :-) Here is a picture of the things we made.
This week was missions conference. I didn’t get any pictures, but it was a great time. The theme was “Shining in a Pagan Culture,” and the special speaker was Bro. Andy Bonikowsky, missionary to Spain. The messages were on Daniel and were really good. They are available for download from the sermon archives on our church’s website. It was a wonderful week of encouragement and fellowship and learning from God’s word.
The theme verses for the missions conference were Daniel’s prayer in Daniel 2:20-23, “20Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his: 21And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding: 22He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him. 23I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the king's matter.”
