Yesterday Christy went out shopping and I stayed home to try to get some work done. Was able to clean one of the light fixtures in the livingroom/kitchen area. Also got a couple of meals cooked and some chicken cooked for Christy. Made chicken noodle casserole for her in the afternoon. She should have scalloped potatoes left for today. It was kind of hard to know what to make since we were out of almost everything. But now we have plenty of veggies and have a few options to work with. I am out of barley flour, but we bought a box of barley flakes so that we could grind some. But I did cook the chicken and soak the mushrooms and tomatoes and also soak the veggie juice veggies. I cut them up later, and Christy made veggie juice.
The Lord sent another 1½ inches of rain today. It really came down. Later I went and tied up my tomato plants. I had tied them up before, but they have gotten quite tall with lots of branches, and one branched had drooped all the way down to the ground. Thank the Lord for blessing the tomatoes. They certainly taste good.
Didn’t get to work outside yesterday. I was trying to get some work done in the kitchen when I heard trickle, trickle, trickle. It sounded like it was coming from the living room window. But I had put a rag in that window. Was it soaked already? No, part of it was still sticking out the bottom of the window, so the rain was running in under it.
Well, the next trick was to pull up the blinds. They fell down the other day and broke, so it takes two hands to put them up. Also, they have to be tied open because the part that pulls them up and holds them open is broken. So I tied them to the rocking chair. Got them into place and fixed the rag.
Went back to work. Trickle, trickle, trickle. Where is that coming from? Sounded like the hallway. I went to look, but the rain was not coming in the door; it was just making a loud noise while it came down.
Back to work. Rrrrrrring! Rrrrrrrrrring! Rrrrrrrrrrrring! It was Christy. Answered her question and talked a few minutes (about 5).
Back to work. Trickle, trickle, trickle. Where is that coming from? Check the hallway. No, everything is OK. Check the living room window on the east side. Everything is OK. Trickle, trickle, trickle. Where is that coming from? Splat! Splat! Splat! Oh, above the stove. It only comes in there if the rain is coming down hard and is coming from the east. Metal mixing bowl dirty. Go to cupboard and get large blue bowl. Large blue bowl is not in cupboard, it is in the fridge. Get medium size blue bowl and put under leak.
Back to work. Rrrrrrring! Rrrrrrrrrring! Rrrrrrrrrrrring! “Hello, this is so and so from Dr. Plaster’s office calling to remind you that you have an appointment tomorrow at 3:00.” “OK! I’ll be there.” “Oh, Connie?” “Yes, ma’am.” “Would you mind coming in at 1:30 instead of 3:00” “That will be fine.”
Back to work. Splat! Splat! Splat! Stop and empty medium size blue bowl.
Back to work. Rrrrrrring! Rrrrrrrrrring! Rrrrrrrrrrrring! Christy with another question.
Well, I did get a few things done this morning! J Time to go play a little Boggle. (Christy beat me as usual!)
(Sorry about the size of the words here. I tried to change them under the options, but they wouldn't change.)
Dad and Mom go back into the village today. They sent this little excerpt from Morning and Evening by Charles Haddon Spurgeon, "Oh, it is sweet to be able to say, "My Lord, if for other reasons I need not suffer, yet if I can honour Thee more by suffering, and if the loss of my earthly all will bring Thee glory, then so let it be. I refuse the comfort, if it comes in the way of Thine honour." O that we thus walked more in the footsteps of our Lord, cheerfully enduring trial for His sake, promptly and willingly putting away the thought of self and comfort when it would interfere with our finishing the work which He has given us to do. Great grace is needed, but great grace is provided.—Morning and Evening"
Mom commented, "Thank God for His great grace."
