Monday was cooking day. What a fun day! First I made mock yogurt and then mock key lime pudding.
Mock yogurt can be made simply with the following ingredients:
One half avocado
1 cup fruit of choice
Maple syrup or honey to taste
Other things can be added to enhance it according to a person's liking, such as cocoa powder or vanilla. Liquid or powdered supplements can be added as well.

Mock key lime pudding can be made with these ingredients:
1 avocado
2 bananas
Juice of one and a half lemons
Maple syrup to taste
Serves 3 or 4
The idea for these recipes came from the Hallelujah Acres website. Though we do not agree with their doctrine or philosophy, we do enjoy some of their healthy and very delicious recipes.
Another thing I made on Monday was a pineapple upside-down cake.
To do this, I first combined the following:
1 Tablespoon sugar
2 Tablespoons molasses
2 Tablespoons honey
4 Tablespoons butter
These were heated on low until the butter melted. Then the mixture was poured into the bottom of a greased cake pan. On top of this mixture I placed slices from approximately one half of a fresh pineapple. The batter was poured on top of the pineapple.
To make the batter, I used about one and a half cups of flour, 1 Tablespoon sugar, and 1 tsp. baking powder. Some of the butter/sugar/molasses/honey mixture was still stuck in the pan, so I added a little water and heated this so that most of it would dissolve into the water. Then I used the flavored water to make a wet batter to pour over the pineapple.
Next I baked the cake at 350 degrees until the batter was done and the wonderful butter/sugar/molasses/honey mixture had oozed up over the top of the cake. Mmmmmm! Did it smell good!
After the cake cooled, it was time to take the final step. I found a pretty plate, and then placed it over the top of the cake pan. Next, I inverted the cake pan and allowed the cake to fall onto the pretty plate. Christy said it tasted good! :-)
BioPQQ™
The Lord has provided a new supplement to try called BioPQQ™. It acts similar to a B-vitamin but is similar in structure to CoQ10. Research shows that it may help mitochondrial ATP production and cell respiration. It has been shown to be beneficial to nerve function as well. Its effects are said to be increased by taking it with CoQ10.
I have not had a lot of success trying to take CoQ10. So far it has just caused more muscle spasms. Not sure why as it is supposed to help stop them. However, it seemed that this BioPQQ™ was worth a try. So far I have noticed the following things since I have been on it.
Note: I don't purchase my BioPQQ™ from the companies you see when you follow the links I provided, but they did give good information about the product and the research that has been done on it.
Benefits:
Less pain, particularly foot pain and the “catching”/”shooting” pains in my neck and other places (this effect lasts about 5 or 6 hours after each dose)
More energy
Less sleepiness
Heart rate faster and fewer PVCs (I had been having trouble getting my heart rate over 70, and a heart rate in the 60s was too slow because of the multiple PVCs or irregular beats that I was experiencing)
Blood pressure lower (It had gone up quite a bit since discontinuing CardiMax)
Pain in left side of abdomen and chest reduced (This pain is not heart related and no cause has been found for it. I’ve had this pain for 7 years, though it was suppressed while I was on the CardiMax)
Side effects:
Increased intensity of migraines, though it does not seem to trigger them
Nausea
Sinuses feel “stuffed up”
So, is it worth the side effects? In the past I would not have continued any supplement or medication that caused nausea as a side effect. However, when one is in a lot of pain, one will try things he or she would not normally try otherwise. The nausea does not seem to actually affect my ability to eat and only lasts a few hours. It may be a temporary side effect that goes away after a couple more weeks on the supplement. It seems like it is at least worth trying for a couple of months. If no significant improvements occur by that time, I will discontinue it. Please pray with me that I will have wisdom as to what is the best thing to do.
“I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD hath bestowed on us.” (Isaiah 63:7a)
