Going to Tennessee and Ladies Banquet
Hello. this is Christy. It has been a few weeks since we last wrote. On April 4th, I went with the 3rd through 6th grade kids in our church to Tennessee. They went to compete against kids from other churches in different Bible events. Several of them won awards for coming out on top in different events. They had a good time and learned a lot. One fourth grade boy got first place in strings and brass by playing a solo on his violin. He was very excited. It was the only award he won, but he told his mom that it was the only one he cared about.
Yesterday, we had the annual Ladies Banquet at church. We were able to take a friend and had a good time. The theme was Noah's Ark. The church building was all decorated. Some of the men did the serving. They were dressed up as Bible characters in robes. Everyone had an enjoyable time. The teen girls' group sang a song about Noah and the Ark. The had animal ears on their heads. Then we went to the smaller building for the teaching. It was really good. The lady that spoke is a pastor's wife from near Charlotte, NC.
There have also been a couple of weddings held where I work, so I have had some late Thursday and Friday nights getting ready for them.
April Happenings
My turn now. Connie here.
Sorry folks but it has been three weeks since we updated this blog. It has been a very busy three weeks. Lots of things have been going on.
April 1 was a rainy day, but the sun did come out for several hours. I was excited to take down winter decorations and put up spring ones. On the fourth, Christy went away for the day with the children from church who were going to Master Club Regionals. The girls trio won first place. Their song certainly was beautiful. They sang "There is a Way for Sins to be Forgiven." One of the boys won first place for his violin solo.
On Sunday the fifth we went to Paw and Maw's house with the other "College and Career" age young people. It was a fun afternoon and a relaxing one too. One could not have asked for a more beautiful day. The weather was just fantastic. Thank You, Father!
The weather has been having a hard time making up its mind as to whether or not it is going to be warm or chilly. First it warms up into the 70's and then cools off. But the flowers are really pretty (See photo below), and the rain has been a blessing. The ground is just soaking it all in. There are a number of bugs around too. (You can see a photo of one of those below.) Just don't get in her way!
On April 12, we celebrated the Lord's resurrection. It was a wonderful day. Four people were baptized. A number of visitors were there. The choir sang a beautiful mini-cantata - Hallelujah for the Cross. After church we got together with our fellowship group at church. It is a fun way to get to know other people in the church.
I was excited to be able to actually mop the floor with a mop. This is the first time I have been able to do the floor that way since hurting my hand. My hand was still quite weak, but thank the Lord for the strength to finish the task.
Yesterday was the ladies' banquet at church. Christy already told something about that. The speaker spoke on the promises of God and how these promises can bring perfect peace no matter what the situation. She gave her testimony of how the Lord gave her and the family perfect peace when her daughter was killed in a car wreck. Through the encouragement the Lord has given her, she has been able to encourage others.
God reminded me of the promise that He is always with us and that He is in complete control when He sent the beautiful sunset last night. It was a beautiful ending to a beautiful day. Thank You, God! (You can see a photo of that sunset below.)
"I had fainted , unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD." (Psalm 27:13,14)
