Pour Out Your Heart
Pour out your heart before Me,
There’s nothing you need hide;
Empty its heavy contents,
Dig right down deep inside.
With your voice cry unto Me,
There’s nothing you need fear;
Just share with me your trouble,
To you I’ll bend my ear.
But, oh, my heart is heavy,
I think of how things change;
Once life was filled with laughter,
At night sweet songs I sang.
But now all seems like darkness,
You’ve hid from me Your face;
Your mercy’s gone for ever,
Your promise You’ve erased.
Grace you have forgotten,
Your anger smolders hot;
My heart is filled with sadness,
Your favor I find not.
Fear not my child, I hear you
I understand your heart;
It trembles so with sorrow,
Your eyes with tear drops start.
You think of your affliction now,
But think of vict’ries past;
I’ve been with you through trouble,
Through gale and stormy blast.
My arms I wrapped around you
As shelter from the storm;
The floods did not o’erflow you,
I kept you from all harm.
While you were sheltered near Me,
My glory I did show;
My clouds shot out their arrows,
With rays my sky did glow.
Lightning lit up all the earth,
My voice with thunder roared;
The earth did shake and tremble,
My clouds their water poured.
My path is in great waters,
My way is in the sea,
In the clouds and gusty wind:
My footsteps you can’t see.
Though the way be dark to you,
It is all light to Me;
Lean on my everlasting arms,
I'm safely leading thee.
(based on Psalm 62:8 and Psalm 77)
"Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah." Psalm 62:8
