Shelby described in one word - wet! Shelby described in three words - wet and soggy!
Over the last 2 1/2 days, we have gotten about 5.7 inches of rain! Kings Mountain probably got more. That is due to left-overs from tropical storm Ida. It is still cloudy and windy but is supposed to clear off somewhat this afternoon with maybe a little more rain this morning. But we thank God for taking care of us, and we thank God that with all the rain and wind (particularly Tuesday night) we still have power. About 4.7 inches of rain fell through the night Tuesday night. Didn’t see any trees down anywhere. One man from our church did have to come home from work to “vacuum” water out of his basement. Other than that, we have not heard of any of the people from church having damaged or flooded houses. We do have much to be thankful for.
Yesterday I had company up to the house to do crafts. We made decorative pumpkins and also decorated bucket hats. That was a lot of fun.
Before they came up, I decided to vacuum the living room carpet. We had done some sewing, but Christy had dropped a needle in the bottom of the sewing basket (or so she thought). Well, after the vacuuming was over, I found the needle - point up, still stuck in the carpet. It was rather crooked after being vacuumed but did not go up the vacuum cleaner. Thank God it was discovered before the kids came up and went sockfoot or barefoot around the house! :-)
