On Saturday Christy and I went shopping at the Farmer's Market. There is not much fresh produce available yet. Too early in the season perhaps. But there were some plants available for sale. We bought 6 heirloom tomato plants, rosemary, and "salad in a box." I've never had any success growing lettuce, but I guess we'll try again. The man who sold us the "salad in a box," said to trim off the top of the leaves every couple of days, and the lettuce will just keep growing. He said last year his lettuce kept growing until July. To water it, he recommended just spraying it with the spray attachment on the kitchen faucet. It can stay outside until temperatures get above 80 degrees, and then it needs to come inside and be placed in a sunny spot. Today it is supposed to rain, so I put it out back so that it could get some good water that God sends down from above.
We bought some EcoGreen bug spray to use this year as nothing we used last year kept the beetles away. Am praying that will work to keep the beetles off. It is supposed to be toxic only to creatures with an exo-skelaton. That means it should be non-toxic to humans and pets. We don't want it to kill the beneficial insects though, so we will probably only use it when we need to. The beetles don't usually come around until later in the summer
Here are a few pictures of the plants we bought. We pray that they do good and grow well.
