Again, here is our memory verse. We should all know it well by now.
Psalm 28:7
“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.”
In Thankfulness Challenge 4, I will look at the third reason to give thanks and praise to God -- I can trust in Him. The Lord is trustworthy.
It is good that I can trust the Lord. But, what can I trust Him to do?
1. To have mercy upon me
“5 But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. 6 I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.” (Psalm 13:5,6)
2. To save me – see Psalm 13:5,6
3. To give me all I need – see Psalm 13:5,6
4. To deliver me when I am in trouble
“4 Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them. 5 They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.” (Psalm 22:4,5)
5. To give me peace in a time of fear
“3 What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. 4 In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.” (Psalm 56:3,4)
6.. To take my part and help me when others come against me wrongfully
“6 The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me? 7 The Lord taketh my part with them that help me: therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me. 8 It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.” (Psalm 118:6-9)
7. To keep me
“13 Thou hast thrust sore at me that I might fall: but the Lord helped me. 14 The Lord is my strength and song, and is become my salvation. 15 The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tabernacles of the righteous: the right hand of the Lord doeth valiantly. 16 The right hand of the Lord is exalted: the right hand of the Lord doeth valiantly. 17 I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord. 18 The Lord hath chastened me sore: but he hath not given me over unto death. 19 Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and I will praise the Lord: 20 This gate of the Lord, into which the righteous shall enter. 21 I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation.” (Psalm 118:13-21)
