Psalm 28:7
“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.”
What a beautiful thought -- God is worthy of our trust. We can give thanks to Him because we can trust in Him. In Thankfulness Challenge 4 we looked at seven thing we can trust God to do. We can give thanks for each of these things. Here is a brief review of them in poetry form.
I can thank the Lord because I can trust the Lord to
Have mercy on me,
To save my soul,
To provide all I need;
With joy I am full.
My heart overflows
With a song to my God
For the bounty bestowed
That exceeded my thoughts.
(See Psalm 13:5,6)
To deliver me when
Upon Him I cry
For I trust in Him,
To my aid He’ll fly.
(See Psalm 22:4,5)
To give my peace
In a time of fear;
His word I will praise
For my God is near.
(See Psalm 56:3,4)
The Lord’s on my side,
I’ll not be afraid;
For He’ll take my part
With those who bring aid.
If I am betrayed
By friend or by foe,
I’ll trust in the Lord;
He’s faithful, I know.
(See Psalm 118:6-9)
To keep me from harm
When Satan attacks;
The Lord is my strength,
On my part He acts.
The Lord is my song,
My salvation is He,
The voice of rejoicing
Shall come forth from me.
The right hand of God
Exalted in strength
Preserves to me life
And keeps me from death.
He’s chastened me sore,
But I shall not die;
I’ll enter His gates,
For He’s heard my cry.
Wide open the gates
To just ones made right
By the mercy of God
Who brought their souls light;
Who robed them afresh
In garments made white
By His righteousness
All clean and all bright.
No blemish He’ll find
For He’s done the work
No spot will He see
When on me He looks.
So I’ll praise His name,
His salvation I’ll tell;
For God heard me call,
And He made all things well.
(See Psalm 118:13-21)
