Tire Kingdom has a really nice waiting area. I sat in there and crocheted. A man and lady (seemed to be a dating couple) sat and chatted. A lady with two kids sat across from me. They were very well behaved. The girl held their pet fish (still in a bag with water) for a while, and then the boy held it for a while. They watched a show about beach front property. Then they watched (or started watching) a cooking show. When the people on the show started talking bad, the boy turned it off immediately. Then he found Family Feud, and they watched that until their car was done. They were so excited when their car was ready. The little boy seemed to be growing tired of sitting in the chair and ready to go back to being a little boy again. :-) After they left, some of the language on Family Feud got pretty bad, so we just turned off the TV since no one else was in that room. Later we went out to the front room.
During our waiting time, I went out in the sun to finish eating my fries we had picked up at Bojangles on the way to get tires. The weather was warm, but the wind was strong. While I was trying to get one of my napkins out of the food bag, a gust of wind grabbed the bag out of my hand and flung it away. I couldn’t catch it so just let it go. It ended up getting caught in the grass near the bushes on the opposite side of the building.
While I was eating my fries, I watched the leaves being stirred up in the wind. They whirled round and round in circles as mini whirlwinds caught them, and they blew this way and that. One leaf got caught in a strong wind gust and blew straight toward me. When it got close to me, it was suddenly caught in a down draft. It swooped down toward the ground and then was carried off in the opposite direction.
Later a family came. They had a little boy and a little girl. The man had long hair with dread locks braided in. He was wearing a shirt with bright colors and a picture of what looked like an Asian god or goddess. There was a lady with him and either another man or perhaps a teenage boy. The little boy had on a black jacket with bright colors on it as well. The little girl was wearing a kind of sparkly gray shirt with pink and red hearts on it. Both children seemed happy and generally obedient and well behaved. Because it was such a beautiful day (in the upper 60s with a warm south wind), the kids were able to play outside, a good place for active little boys. The little boy seemed to enjoy slapping the glass on the door and window with his hand and “talking.” It was hard or impossible to understand most of what he said, but that didn’t seem to bother him. He just chattered away merrily.
When it got close to 5:00, we walked up to Jack-in-the-Box for supper. On the cement pillar outside the restaurant was a very unique wasp nest. It almost looked like someone had made a pan flute and hung it there. I looked up this kind of nest later and learned that it is made by a wasp called an organ pipe mud dauber. I wished I had had Christy’s camera to take a picture. It was really neat.
While we were waiting for our order, we noticed the truck was finished. So we took our food and headed back to Tire Kingdom, paid, and then it was time to go back to church.
What an afternoon! Thank the Lord for His provision and for all His love and watch care over us.
