Thankfulness Challenge 5 Review
This is the last part of our study on Thankfulness. I hope you have enjoyed it. It surely has been a blessing to me.
In Thankfulness Challenge 5, we looked at six ways in which the Lord is our Helper. Because of the ways the Lord helps us, our heart can rejoice in Him and sing praise. As Psalm 30:12 says, “To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.” (Psalm 30:12) I was very thankful to the Lord for giving me a poem to write to go with this final look at Thankfulness. The Bible verses talk about praising the Lord with my song, so I asked the Lord to give me a poem, and He did! Thank You, Father!
The Lord is My Help
The Lord is my help when I am oppressed
When wicked men cause my heart distress.
The Lord is my Helper when I am poor
He knows my need, provides it and more.
The Lord is the help of the fatherless,
He’ll hold and comfort and gently caress.
The Lord is my help when I am humble
To hear my cry, and aid, He is able.
Though trouble beset me now, yet peace
Shall be my end when life’s trials shall cease.
The Lord will deliver when things look dim;
He’ll send me help for I trust in Him. (1)
The Lord is my Helper when others fail,
He’ll weather the storm through any gale;
He won’t give up when the going gets tough,
No, He’ll hold me close and say, “I’m enough.” (2)
The Lord is my help when I am in trouble;
He’ll not delay, but come on the double. (3)
The Lord is my help when I sin and fall;
He’ll hear my cry when on Him I call.
The Lord is my help when I’m hurt and sad;
He’ll lift me back up and make me glad.
I’ll not be silent but praise Him and sing;
He gave me joy to replace sorrowing. (4)
The eye of the Lord is upon them that fear,
That hope in His mercy to them He is near;
In time of famine He’ll bring them food,
Sustain their lives with that which is good;
The Lord’s heart is full of loving care,
Who hopes in Him shall never despair. (5)
The Lord is my help when I am cast down,
When my heart’s troubled and pained and torn;
In pain He’s my hope and confidence
I’ll praise for the help of His countenance.
My heart will be lifted with song of praise,
To the Lord my God for all of my days. (6)
