This has been a rough week for Dad and Mom. Dad and Mom are missionaries to the Owena village of Papua New Guinea. Pastor Nuanda is the pastor of Owena Baptist church.
Dad has called 3 times this week. The first time he called and asked prayer for Pastor Nuanda's wife, Tamar. She was very ill. The next day he called to say that she had died about 3 hours after he called.
Dad called again tonight. Pastor Nuanda is OK, but he was sick even before Tamar fell ill. Though Tamar was saved, many of her relatives are not. Dad said that the village and many of Tamar's family have been in "mourning" for four days. This is mourning of the old paganistic type, with weeping and wailing and such. They have even had a witchdoctor there for part of the time. My parents and Pastor Nuanda have not been able to sleep for those four days.
About 7:00 p.m. our time tonight (Saturday), Dad preached a salvation message. We probably won't hear for a few days how things went. But please pray as it has been hard on Mom and Dad, and they are both discouraged right now, especially Mom. Pray that through all this, God will show them a token for good and comfort them. (See Psalm 86:17) A couple of weeks ago, when Dad and Mom called, Mom seemed excited about the opportunity to start school with a few students. However, right now she is discouraged, and Dad and Mom are both very exhausted. Please be in special prayer for them. Thank you all so much.
