Good day, y'all! It has been a lovely day and very busy.
For lunch Christy made some of her yummy tortillas. She makes the most delicious tortillas, even with wheat-free, corn-free flour. I cut up cucumbers, celery, and lettuce to go on them. I had stewed tomatoes and mayonnaise on mine as well, and Christy added ground beef to hers.
It was fun to go out and water and work a little in the garden and work on the compost pile a bit. Recently the Lord blessed us with 1.9" of rain over a period of three days. But now the ground is dry again. So it was back to watering this morning.
Christy did laundry, and I did my exercises that I do three days a week. Also did a lot of research on a supplement that Christy found out about.
Christy's butterfly bush is struggling to survive this intense heat and dry weather, but the flowers are still covered with beautiful butterflies. Lots of swallowtails. Below are just a few pictures of these beautiful little creatures that God made.
Food Poisoning Remedies
It seems that food poisoning is not an uncommon occurrence for me. You would think I would have built up immunity to it by now. One of the problems is that I do not have much of a sense of smell. Therefore I often end up eating things that are not good any longer because they still smell fine to me.
Well, that was the case yesterday. I had bought a special mark-down fruit/veggie drink at Ingles for 99 cents. it was not outdated. On Sunday I drank some. I was sick all day Sunday but thought that it was just a touch of stomach flu or that I was nauseated because of a migraine headache. Well, yesterday I drank more of this fruit/veggie juice. It still tasted good to me, but after I drank the 1/2 cup of it, I had a rotten taste in my mouth. I knew then that it was spoiled.
By evening my stomach was sick. I tried my usual remedies and looked up others on the internet. Here are some things I tried or found.
1. Activated charcoal
This can be purchased at many health food stores or ordered from discount vitamin sites online. The instructions on the bottle say to take 2 as needed. It should have no side effects and can be taken as often as needed.
Works best if taken right after eating the spoiled food.
Caution: Activated charcoal can deplete the body of important nutrients. Not to be taken on a daily basis for more than 5 to 7 days at a time.
2. Green tea
Boil water. Soak tea bag in 1 cup boiled water for 5 minutes. Allow to cool slightly (according to your liking). Sip on the tea.
Do not use the decaffeinated tea. It will not help the stomach if it is sick due to food poisoning.
3. Goldenseal tea
Very bitter but does the job.
Be careful of this herb if you are on blood pressure medications or blood sugar medications or have diabetes or low blood sugar.
4. Lemons
Juice 4 lemons; sweeten
Do not add water. Drink as is.
I tried this and it worked great. I was not able to handle more than one lemon though.
Thank God for making these provisions for the health of man whom He created. He made the herb "for the service of man." (Psalm 104:14)
