Will just make a quick update today as it looks like we are gearing up for a major winter event here in North Carolina. Not sure yet if we are getting snow, ice, sleet, or a mix of all three; but whatever it is they are predicting a lot of it. So we may be out of power for a few days an unable to post anything.
This week has been quite eventful. First we had the rainstorm. Then the JW ladies came to visit yesterday. It was Cleo and Deloris this time. They may come back one more time. Please pray as I feel I am not really getting the salvation message across to them.
Monday night we forgot to lock the back door. It was very windy, and we kept hearing sounds like a bird or a cat or something. Then a screeching noise started toward the direction of my bedroom. It got louder and louder. Finally it sounded like it was in my bedroom. Christy and I were scared to go back there because we didn’t know if the sound was inside or outside. It was bedtime, and we could only think of one family (friends) we knew would be up at this time. So we called them. The husband came up and checked it out. Couldn’t see the roof, but he found some of our wire fencing that was scraping and screeching against our underpinning. He moved it, but I heard the sound seemingly near my closet area again in the night when the wind picked up. The bird/cat sound was coming from our bathroom, and it sounds like it is in the walls.
We found out later the bird/cat sound is the furnace, and we think the screeching was the furnace also. It has been giving us a little trouble with not wanting to heat properly and was making some little squeaky noises this morning.
For a while the car has had a funny sound when we start it up like the starter might be going bad. It was only a little sound though. Well, Tuesday I had a chiropractor appointment. And Tuesday the car wouldn’t start. We called Jeremy and let him hear the sound when we tried to start it. He said it did sound like the starter, and he planned to pick one up and go fix the car which was still sitting in the parking lot at the salvage store. He was able to fix it that day. Seems like our car likes to quit on us while we are on the way to the chiropractor. I had my appointment Wednesday morning instead.
I was excited to see the first flowers of the year peaking up through the cold earth the other day while we were working in the yard. Below is a picture of these flowers.
The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass. The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever. Isaiah 40:7,8
