Yesterday morning, Mom and Dad headed out to go shopping. While they were gone, some storms came through. There was LOTS of lightning!
At one point, I was sitting on the bed, adding another layer to the felt water pre-filter. Crack! Crack! Crack! went the fridge and the microwave as lightning flashed three times in rapid succession. I heard the cracks all the way from where I was sitting in my bed. After a few more flashes close by, I moved to the living room. The trees around the house are closer to my bedroom than the living room. :-)
While I was in the living room, another lightning flashed. Even though the living room light was not on, I was sure I saw light coming out of where the light bulbs were. Whew! Scary lightning!
After a while there was a lull in the storm. There was another little storm in the afternoon, and then things were quiet in the evening, so we were able to enjoy going to church.
Around midnight I was awakened by tornado sirens. Didn't hear any storm though. Just about 1:00 a.m., the next system came through. I opened my curtain and the top part of one set of blinds so that I could watch the "light show." There wasn't near as much close lightning as there was in the morning's storm though. There was a possibility of severe weather, so much so that the Red Cross was prepared to open a shelter. We have been here almost 18 years, and this is the first time I remember them ever mentioning opening a shelter for the storms. However, the storms went mostly south and east of us, so we did not get really severe storms. We were thankful for a good night and safety from the Lord. If any of the storms were severe, we were not aware of it.
These were good words to fall asleep by last night, "He saith unto them, "Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm." (Matthew 8:26)
