The Empty Box
Yesterday morning Christy did a little shopping. One of the stores she went to was Mighty Dollar, where she got up a few first aid items. She picked up 2 elastic bandages and a box that said Paper Tape. I prefer paper tape for securing bandages because it is hypoallergenic. It also actually comes off when you want it to. :-) I was interested to see that, in the picture on the box, the paper tape appeared to be skin color whereas it is usually white. As I was putting these items away, my curiosity got the better of me, and I decided to take a peek into the box. Wow! It was not skin colored at all. It was transparent. In fact, it was invisible! Christy had paid a dollar for a little empty box.
No Place for a Tweet!
In the spring and fall, we often leave the back door open to let in the fresh air. On that back door is one of those pop-up screen doors that fastens with very sticky glue on one side and little fabric fasteners on the other side. The door does not close tightly at the bottom because there is no fastener there.
Occasionally while we have the back door open, a bird manages to get inside, as one did yesterday. It was a little brownish red bird with a yellowish belly. At first she just sat on the light cover in the hallway. Then she decided to do some exploring. My bedroom first. Although the curtains were closed, she found her way to the window and attempted to get out that way.
Quietly I entered the bedroom, hoping to be able to get a picture. However, she flew out. So I shut the bedroom door. The last bird that got in headed straight for Christys bedroom after it left mine. I headed for that bedroom to see, and sure enough, there she was. On the way there, I opened both screen doors. After I went into Christy's bathroom, the little tweet headed for the kitchen. When I came out, she was sitting on top of the kitchen cupboard where the paper napkins and paper cups are. As soon as she saw me, she took off out the open back door. That was good. Inside the house is no place for a tweet.
Recycled Dress
It was with excitement that I finally finished the recycled shirt dress I had been working on. This dress was made from one of my old shirts. There are beautiful rose patterns and shiny trim on the shirt. To make it into a little girl's dress, I altered the sleeves so that they would not be gaping on a little girl's arms. Also, I put a casing on the inside of the shirt, about a third of the way down. Into this casing I put elastic to pull the dress in at the waist a bit. Since there is a snap at the top and the button on the top is only for decoration, I took the button off the top and moved it down to the place where a button was missing. Then I replaced the top button with a little bow. I also sewed up the front so that the buttons are only decorative. However, the top part was left open so that the dress could be pulled over the little girl's head.
Around the middle of the dress, I had messed up the elastic casing a little bit. To cover this up, I added three more bows. Here is a look at the finished project.
The Little Lady and the Red and Black Bugs
In the last post, I mentioned about the interesting bugs that were on my window screen. It looked like they had just hatched. The glass on the window was closed, and the bugs were on the inside of the glass. On the outside of the glass there was a spider. Poor little spider! She really wanted those bugs, but she couldn't get them.
Well, since then I have had my window open to let some fresh air in my room. Apparently some of those red and black bugs got in. Well, that made one creature very happy. The little lady got her lunch after all!
