The past few days have been busy days. Got to bed a little late the last 2 nights. I had a chiropractor appointment Monday, and then Christy went to a place in Kings Mountain to apply for work. After that we did part of the shopping.
A couple of people wrote back with suggestions and help for lining up a travel companion for my trip to visit Mom and Dad on the mission field. I still need to do some more work on that.
On Tuesday we finished most of the rest of the shopping and then went to visit a friend in Shelby. She is a sweet 77 year-old lady. We spent about 2 ½ hours with her. We are not sure if she is saved. We read Psalms 23 and 24 with her. And she read a verse she found in her Bible, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4)
Psalm 23 tells about our Saviour, our Shepherd, and the blessings we can enjoy since we have this Saviour and Shepherd as our very own. And Psalm 24 explains that God created us and that He is the King of glory and that we should worship Him. Basically, it explains why we need a Shepherd and who the Shepherd is. The King of Love My Shepherd Is.
Yesterday I dried some cilantro in the oven. We buy it at Wal Mart, and then I eat it as it is good on the stomach. But it is impossible to eat it all before it spoils. It seems a pity to waste it, so I dry it in the oven for several hours at 275 degrees until it can be easily crushed. I store it in an old parmesan cheese shaker bottle. It smells so much fresher than the bottled spices we buy in the stores.
Very refreshing time at church last night. It was good to take some time to fellowship and pray with a friend whom I had not gotten to talk to for a few weeks. Her mother is not an American citizen but is applying for renewal for her residency card today.
This morning was busy with cooking. Made fresh pressed apple juice and bread and apple cake. Also cooked barley and green beans for lunch. The beans were rather stringy but really delicious. Haven’t tried the cake yet. It still needs a lemon topping made for it.
Can’t think of much else. Praise the Lord for being with us and guiding us through this week so far.
