Today is an exciting day – my first day of Change Journey 2014!
My key verses are Ephesians 3:20,21, “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.”
Spiritual Health
My verse to meditate on today is II Timothy 1:7, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
God gave me the spirit of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. This is a gift from God, just as salvation is a gift from God. God has freely offered it. The spirit of power and of love and of a sound mine are free for the taking. As a child of God, I need only accept them as I did His free gift of salvation.
This morning when I woke up, God gave me a song and a thought on which to rejoice – My Sins Are Gone!
Physical Health
Today was the day to record my starting weight for the year. The goal for the year is to lose 40 pounds. The goal for January is to lose 3.5 pounds.
My starting weight for January 1st is 170 lbs. This means that, in the last eight years, I have put on 55 lbs., or an average of 7 lbs. per year. I have several health factors that will complicate attempts at weight loss. These include multiple food allergies, difficulty digesting protein, and side effects of a supplement for neurological pain. Side effects of this supplement include bloating and weight gain. I’ve tried various ways to get off the supplement but always end up with a lot of pain and difficulty walking. So, weight loss is going to be a challenge.
The diet I’m doing is a variation of the PCOS diet. (link goes to a youtube video. I'm not trying to get pregnant, but I'm doing the diet because I don't want to feel unwell or be overweight). The diet is supposed to help regulate hormones, help with thyroid problems and aid in weight loss. So, hopefully it will be of benefit for me in both regulating hormones and losing weight.
I know that only the Lord can bring about healing and weight loss. However, He uses various means to do so, and He also expects me to do my part. Both my spirit and body belong to Him, and I must care for both the best I can with the wisdom and resources He has given me.
Now it is time for my “before” pictures.
Thanks for reading my post, and I hope to share my journey with you each week. Will try to post regularly and include the “downs” as well as the “ups.” Praying this will be an encouragement to you. God bless!
