Greetings, everyone! Hope you all are having a great week! I will try to update here as quickly as possible while I have internet connection. We have been having some troubles here, and it looks like it could be our router. Christy is also having computer problems. So our updates may be a bit sporadic for a while. :-)
Psalm 107:1 says, "1O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever."
Psalm 136:26 says, "O give thanks unto the God of heaven: for his mercy endureth for ever."
And Lamentations 3:22,23 says, "It is of the LORD' mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness."
Monday was a very eventful day. We had planned to travel with our friends to the chiropractor in Charlotte, go with them a couple other places, and then come home. There was much that needed to be done at home. But Monday did not quite go as planned
We went with some friends to Charlotte as usual to go to the chiropractor. Then we went to Earth Fare where we get health foods at a good price. It was off to Harris Teeter after that. The youngest daughter of the family we ride with (Allison) had to go to physical therapy, so her older sister (who was driving) called the PT office to tell them we would be a little late but should be there in a half hour. She said that she would see us in a little bit and to “drive safely.”
Well, Christina drove as safely as she could, but that did not prevent an accient. A lady turned right on a red light. That was OK, but she apparently did not see us and ran right into the side of the van. She was so shaken. She had not realized that anything was going to happen. She was headed straight toward the side of the van, so we are not sure what had happened. We hope she did not have a seizure or something while she was driving. Afterward she came up to our van and said, "What happened." Allison wondered if the Lord used us to stop her from a more serious accident. She wasn't turning sharp enough to make it into either the right or left lane. And she appeared to be picking up speed, not applying the breaks. If she had continued, she would have gone right across the median and possibly into traffic coming the other way. Poor lady was quite upset though.
Thankfully no one was seriously injured. Allison was injured the worst with injuries to her neck, shoulder, and back. She has a possible fracture in her T-1 vertabrae. Allison shared her spinal x-ray on her caring bridge site if you would like to see it. (She has severe scoliosis, but she cannot have surgery due to a bleeding problem and other serious problems. So please pray for the Lord's healing for her.)
The chiropractor who does her physical therapy offered to check us all out for free, which was a blessing. Then we went back to our regular chiropractor where some of us got a going over. One of the group was scheduled for Tuesday and Christy and I had our check-ups yesterday. (There were eight of us in the van.)
We were all OK, but the other lady was really shaken up. She was distraught and crying and also ended up getting a ticket. The left, front side of her car was smashed. The headlight fell out, and the radiator grate fell off, and the bumper was hanging a bit loose. But she did not appear to be injured. We pray she was OK. It was almost 7:00 p.m. by the time we left the chiropractor the second time.
We figured we might as well finish up shopping since it was so late anyway. So off to the store we went. Then our friends took us to our church where our car had been parked for the day. Christy and I picked up our car and came home. It was after 9:30 by the time we got home. We had been gone for about 13 hours.
But the afternoon was not without its entertainment. One of the girls, Sara, wants to learn to play the bagpipes and had brought along her practice chanter. She was teased that it sounded like a sick cow. But a nearby squirrel seemed to enjoy her rendition of Amazing Grace as Sara practiced it in the van while others were waiting to be seen in the chiropractor's office. We did some other fun things as well during the hours we had to wait.
When Christy and I went to our appointment yesterday, we were very thankful to get the results of the assessment. Christy had no injuries. I have sprained/strained muscles in my left knee, left hip, and mid back. But it is nothing that won't clear up on its own. Thank the Lord. The others had worse injuries and are back to seeing the chiropractor three times a week again. But all of us are OK. Thank You, Father.
