Spirit
The Change Journey verse for Day 6 is Isaiah 41:14, “Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.”
The thought I want to meditate on today is, “I will help thee.” Whenever I feel unable to do something, I need to remember that God said, “I will help thee.”
· When I am afraid, God says, “Fear not… I will help thee.”
· When I do not have wisdom for a task, God says, “I will help thee.” He is the Lord.
· When my strength is ebbing, God says, “I will help thee.” I am a worm, but He is God.
· When I feel that I have failed, God says, “I will help thee… thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.” He has the power to heal my failure and make me clean again.
Thank You, God, that, in all things that I have need of You, You will help me.
Body
Today’s health tip is regarding sleep and rest. Sleep is so important, and it is a gift from God. Psalm 127:2 says, “It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.” The average person needs about eight hours of sleep at night in order to feel refreshed. Sometimes we cannot get enough hours of sleep at night, but there may be a half an hour or so during the day that we can take a nap and get caught up a little on our rest.
Proper rest is beneficial in many ways. When we are overtired, we tend to get hungrier, have less energy, and have more trouble with mood swings. Getting refreshed helps our body, our emotions, our relationships with other people, and even our spirit since we can concentrate better as we spend time communing with our Lord.
If, for some reason, God does not grant sleep for a period of time, God is still enough. He still holds out His promise, “I will help thee.” And He says, “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31) If it seems that you cannot sleep well or get enough rest, wait upon the Lord. Ask Him for strength, and He will help you.
