Then we headed off to go back to church. Christy turned to get back on the highway, and away we were going. We went all the way down (or should I say "up") the entrance (or should I say "exit") ramp. Christy moved into the "right" lane, and we were calmly zooming down the road. Next thing we knew, there were cars heading straight toward us. Christy got into the "left" lane to avoid being hit, and then we noticed they were coming toward us in that lane as well. A blue car swerved out of our way. Quickly Christy moved over onto the shoulder. Traffic kept coming and coming and coming.
We thank the Lord that a car came before we headed over the hill. There might not have been a way to avoid a head on collision if that had not been the case. A head on collision with both cars going about 65 miles an hour is not a good thing.
Christy backed up to the exit ramp; waited for a break in the traffic; did a u-turn; and headed back down the exit ramp to go to the right turn-off. We were a little late for church, but we were very thankful that we got there alive!
We did wonder how we went so far down without seeing any "Do Not Enter" or "Wrong Way" signs. Also, it is amazing that we went up the entire entrance ramp and were able to go far enough to get into the "right" lane without seeing another car. But thank God we did.
Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy; To deliver their soul from death. Psalm 33:18,19a
Note: the photo below has been "touched up" a little. I did not take photos of the cars coming toward us. :-)
