Proverbs 18:10 says, “The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.” The name of the LORD is powerful. It is our refuge, our hiding place. It is where we go to be safe.
These words from Psalm 36 are a comfort, “6Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: O LORD, thou preservest man and beast. 7How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.” (verses 6 & 7) God is the one who preserves us. He does this because He loves us. Therefore, we can put our trust under the shadow of His wings. We can find our refuge close by His side.
Because God is our hiding place, this is the prayer we can cry to Him, “Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.”
