“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” (John 15:4,5)
Yesterday was a difficult day physically, emotionally, and spiritually. From the time I got up things did not seem to go right. It seemed that, if anything could go wrong, it did. Even though some things did get accomplished, to me the day seemed a waste. There were so many things to do, and it just wasn’t working to try to do them. Everything was a flop, it seemed. I became very upset. Instead of trusting God and realizing that He was in control of how things turned out, I worried, fussed, and stewed. Though I tried hard and shed tears of frustration, things just would not work.
God was very patient. He just waited until I came to the end of my own strength; then He gently reminded me, “Without me you can do nothing, nothing at all.” John 15:5 came to mind, “Without me ye can do nothing."
The secret to having a good day was not getting certain things done; it was abiding in Christ. Things may not have gotten accomplished, but the day would have gone much better if I had hidden myself in Him.
Jesus said, “Abide in me… for without me ye can do nothing.” (from John 15:4,5)
