Back in September, the Lord blessed Christy and me with the wonderful opportunity to go on a ladies' retreat with other ladies from our church. Perhaps the nicest thing about the retreat was getting away from everything and just enjoying the quiet and also the beauty of nature. We did not have internet or phone service, but that did not bother me. It was so nice for just a short time to be cut off from all the business and craziness of the outside world.
The first day we were there we got unpacked and then went down to lunch – a salad bar. Then we worked on decorating our bunks because we were having a bunk decorating contest. After that, we went on a short tour of the camp, and I took some pictures. A swim in the pool was nice too. It’s been a long time since I was in a big pool.
There was a time for hearing from the word of God by the special speaker (one of the ladies from our church). We played in the game room and had fun competitions. Around the campfire, we enjoyed a time of singspiration. We have done lots and lots of walking, so we got our exercise. 😊
The morning that we left the camp, when I came out of the cabin, the fog was rising out of the valley and the sun was shining above it. What a beautiful sight! We used to see the fog rising in the valley quite often in Owena when we lived in Papua New Guinea. I had forgotten what an amazing sight that was, especially when the sun is shining above it.
At the camp, besides free time and just "down time" to rest and relax, there were also times of hearing from God's word, times of singing together, and also a time to make a special craft decoration for our houses (or to give away).
Below, I have included a gallery of pictures that I took while we were there.
The snake was in the pool so had to be taken out before we could swim. It was just a harmless water snake, but we still didn't want to go swimming with it. :-)
